North East Region of Brazil
The North East of Brazil is Brazils most traditional region. A large area of the North East of Brazil is divided into large ranches owned by a few families. This, along with the several years of drought, have made the land even more barren. This has led to large scale migration form the North East of Brazil to the large cities in the south.

The north east is much drier than the rest of Brazil. It has less than 750 mm of rainfall every year. It is locally known as The Caatinga or drought zone.

The North-East region of Brazil is one of the poorest areas in North and South America.
